Fraud Friday Red Flags: Verification

Aug 22, 2025 | 1 Minute Read

It may be an email or a text with a link to verify your address due to inaccurate shipping information, your credit card information due to your card being declined, or to log into your account to approve a purchase.  This is all information you’ve already given them when you placed your order, but now a scammer is using that information for their own benefit, not yours.

Avoid clicking on links from unsolicited texts.  Go directly to a verified source for that company, such as logging directly into your account from their website or calling their customer service to verify that the information being requested is actually needed.

Be sure to check out our Blog or our page on Facebook for fraud tips every Friday. We’ll cover different types of fraud as well as red flags to help you identify when it might be a scam.

Remember, if you have questions about a possible fraud situation or just an uneasy feeling about a phone call, text, email, or transaction, feel free to contact the Fraud Department at (605) 934-2500.
